TAPTON LANDMARKS

Series of mobile classrooms built to accommodate ‘bulge’ pupils – these were expected to be removed but the school has always been so popular that the number of pupils on the role has never fallen enough to remove them.  Some have been combined to form a Sixth Form Centre

Introduction of the National Curriculum which has led on to the present sitting of SATS in year 9.

1992 Sheffield changed from a First and Middle School system to an Infant and Junior School system so Tapton took in a double intake of year 7s and year 8s

1995 New science laboratories - two labs were built at a cost of £230,000

1997 Sponsored walk in aid of revamping the library is very successful resulting in the purchace of several new computers, new furniture and other equipment.
